Webcor was a small but committed team of 3 riders for the US National Road Race. We were up against Tibco's and ValuAct's team of 8, plus strong individual riders like our Cascade guest, Evelyn (who chose to race for her club for nationals as her swan song in their jersey), and Mara Abbott fresh from Europe.
We raced smart and ended up with a podium finish as well as the Under-23 national title! Read More...
I would like to begin this article by congratulating Cate for coming up with this month’s topic! Cate was looking for some guidance about pre-race tips, carbo-loading, sleep, pre hydration, etc., for her cycling and running events. In addition, she wanted to know how to handle “pushing through the wall” also known as “bonking avoidance”. She explained that during a race and sometimes at work as a firefighter, “I felt so completely defeated by the sudden lack of motivation because I was physical

At what point is there not a benefit to drafting on a hill climb? Does it matter the length and degree of climb? How does wind come into the equation?

Stevens, who is an amateur and was racing as a cat. 4 just 10 months ago, was thrilled to win the yellow jersey. “There were only six of us, but it felt like there were 25 Webcor riders out there,” she said. “I think we all gave it everything we had to keep me in the yellow jersey today. It was super hard. I couldn’t have won this without them, there’s no way. Each and every one of those riders gave everything they had ... We’re definitely a tired bunch.” Read Full Race Report...
What I have always wanted to know is what percentage of performance am I putting out compared to if I was a two legged rider? I sometimes have thought that it would be about 55-60%, other times with any serious climbing, maybe only 40%. I want to know this, for my own benefit. It would be nice to think that with two legs my performance would have been ???? For instance: if I have a strong ride with average of 14mph, could it have possibly been 20mph with two legs? Or that riding 25 miles would b
For her final preparation for the Cascade Classic, Amy did the U23 National Mountain Bike Championships in her home state of CO. This is Amy's last year as a U23 (Under 23) rider, so she wants to win nationals in ALL the cycling disciplines (she already has the U23 CX title)!...
“Neck and neck the entire race, it was a truly exciting race to race, and also to watch. I am stoked to have won, but need to offer mad props to Chloe for her racing.”...

Drove up into the hills and did a 42 mi loop with 3 long sustain climbs and some rolling terrain in between. Legs felt really heavy on the first climb but then loosened up and felt really good until the last long climb, then legs felt ok but were tired and lacked some power. I wanted to keep rpms up on climbs but I seem to drop the cadence when climbing. On the flats I keep rpms around 90 but on climbs rpms drop to low 80's even into the 70's. Does this mean I am overgeared or is this just a fac

Q#1: At the age of 56 I am going to have to get braces. Never had them before and I know that it will certainly change my eating habits while cycling. I love to eat Clif Bars on the bike (bananas give me indigestion) but their texture is sure to give my braces fits (Cleanliness and structure). Do you have any suggestions for eating on the bike that will give me the energy I need for a 1-2-3 hour ride so as not to bonk?
As John Murphy noted after the Cytomax Benicia Criterium, “you don’t want to leave empty handed from a race sponsored by one of your sponsors.”
Murphy took this race by the hands and came away with the win after attacking out of a small break with four laps to go and soloing in for the victory on an afternoon where temperatures hovered around the 100-degree mark. Read More...
