Olds successfully defended her 2008 title with a very impressive win. She is one of the most versatile riders in the peloton - earlier this year she finished second in stage 8 of the Giro d’Italia and more recently came away with a 3rd place on stage 5 and the sprinter’s jersey at Giro Della Toscana.

With all four ProMan riders making it to the finals, the scene was set for a fast race. Teammate, 17-year-Old Coryn Rivera launched an attack right off the line, drawing out the field. A potential winning move of ProMan’s Christen King & Theresa Cliff Ryan was bought back after establishing a considerable gap. Olds countered, dug deep and lapped the field.

Rivera, in her very first Elite Track Nationals final, rode a very attentive and aggressive race. She is now old enough to compete in her first UCI World Cup season and will be racing Manchester World Cup at the end of the month, along with Cari Higgins and Shelley Olds. King and Alves-Hyde raced very well, each looking at winning opportunities, but the move of the race was Shelley’s well-timed attack.

Prior to the scratch race, Higgins, Olds and King raced the team pursuit to a silver medal, behind the winning team of Sarah Hammer, Dotsie Bausch and Kim Geist.
