March 20, 2010 - Marc de Maar, UnitedHealthcare Presented by Maxxis’ Dutch addition, took 2nd in the opening race of the Dutch criterium series Saturday.
De Maar, training back in the Netherlands between the end of camp and the Redlands Classic, took the start of the GP Oud Vossemeer looking to get some racing in his legs ahead of Redlands, and he nearly pulled off the win.
“There was a break of two up the road and I was in the chase group coming to the finish,” he said. “I caught one guy in the sprint but came up a few inches short of the win.”
De Maar returns to the U.S. this week to join his teammates for Redlands.
