March 21, 2010 - San Dimas, CA – Brad White of the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis maintained his hold on the lead in the Sprinter’s competition, and Rory Sutherland finished safely in the pack to hold onto 5th overall in the San Dimas Stage Race following his win in Stage 2 Saturday.
“We tried to launch Rory a couple times but Fly V was very attentive in protecting Ben Day’s lead,” said Team directeur sportif Gord Fraser.
Instead of a break deciding the stage victory, as it did Saturday with Sutherland’s win, the final stage, a 90-minute criterium, came down to a sprint finish. 
“The sprint was really chaotic, really helter skelter,” Fraser said. “Jake (Keough) and Andrew (Pinfold) got separated in the run-up, and then Pinner got boxed in for the sprint. It was a bit of a disappointing finish, but it was still a great weekend, with Rory’s win and his move up to 5th overall, and Brad taking home the Sprinter’s jersey.”
Aggressive riding continues
Continuing with the plan from Saturday, UnitedHealthcare Presented by Maxxis was keen to get into as many moves as possible again today.
“We had another good day covering moves,” White said. “Johnny (Clarke) did a good job to get in the main move, and I got into a couple moves early as well.”
While White didn’t secure any additional points in the Sprint competition today, he still held a large enough lead to hold onto the leader’s jersey. In making the only serious move of the day, Clarke took several of the sprint primes out on the road and was looking like the fastest finisher in the group. But with Tyler Wren (Jamis/Sutter Home) in the break, sitting just under a minute off of Day’s lead, the move wasn’t going to get too far up the road.
“The team rode well this weekend,” White added. “We’re working really good together, racing well. We came away with a great stage win, and the Sprinter’s jersey was a nice bonus even if it wasn’t a priority. You can tell we’re getting things worked out ahead of Redlands.”
