AUGUST 20, 2010
Oakland, CA – Eric Barlevav, Jonny Clarke and Matt Crane of the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis will join participants in the Ride 2 Recovery Great Lakes Challenge, which is sponsored by UnitedHealthcare, this Monday, August 23.
The seven-day Ride2Recovery, which covers 430 miles, works to improve the health and wellness of injured veterans through cycling. The Challenge supports R2R indoor Spinning® Recovery Labs and outdoor cycling programs at Military and Veterans Affairs locations around the country, aiding the rehabilitation and recovery efforts of injured veterans.

Monday’s event kicks off at 9:30 a.m. CT at the UnitedHealthcare office in Edina with remarks by veterans and elected officials, and includes a mid-day lunch stop at the State Capitol and Minnesota Vietnam Memorial in St. Paul.
The more than 150 riders doing the Challenge will be joined by Crane, Barlevav and Clarke, as well as Minnesota Rep. Erik Paulsen and Purple Heart recipient Sgt. Jeremiah Workman, USMC.
For Crane, it will be his second participation in a Ride2Recovery event this year. He also participated in the Memorial Challenge in early June.
“The first one in June was pretty inspirational,” Crane said. “We got to talk to guys who have fought for our country. I really learned a lot, especially the fact that we can all ride bikes together – pros and guys who haven’t ridden in 20 years. The veterans we ride with show a tremendous amount of courage and strength every day. I’m looking forward to this ride and hearing more stories.”
