Italy - Amber is back in Europe doing 2 UCI time trials to prepare for Worlds at the end of this month. She just won the Davide Fardelli Memorial Chrono in Italy today, just 8 weeks after breaking her collarbone in the Giro d'Italia. She is guest riding for an Italian UCI team.

Here is her report:

Nice. It is always fun to win a race... and today, I won the time trial in Italy!!  I have been working hard the last 6 weeks to come back from my surgery. There are still Watts to find before Sep 29, but it is very encouraging to have good sensations on the bike at this point.  I needed that.

The course was essentially a flat 8km circuit that we did 3x.  The first half of the lap was not technical, but the 2nd half had a bunch of corners.  It was also really windy, so it actually raced hard. My first lap was good, but my second lap sealed the deal. Then, I just hung on during the third lap.  I didn't have great legs, but I found a good rhythm and raced with everything I had.  I was excited to win.

FYI, I was guest riding with the Chirio-Forno d'Asolo team.  It has definitely been Italian style with the logistics! The good news was that I was able to enter the UCI race, and at the same time generate a whole lotta hoopla in the Italian media. And although I do not speak more than a few words in Italian, I am being spoken to like I am fluent!  Are we there yet :)?!

I will be in Sestriere this week doing some long climbs, then I'll race another Chrono on Sunday.

All the Best,
Amber
