Binghampton, NY – Hilton Clarke of the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis took 3rd in the bunch sprint at the end of the Chris Thater Memorial despite hitting the deck hard with seven laps to go.
“It was a little bit my own doing,” Clarke said. “I looked back to see where they guys were and someone in front of me swerved a bit and I went down.”

Vacaville, CA - The Northern CA/Nevada Sr. District Criterium Championship was this Sunday in Vacaville. This race is also part of the California Cup series. Katheryn wanted to try to check "District Crit Champ" off her list before retiring, and I wanted a taste of race intensity before the Cyclocross season starts in a few weeks, so off we went. Binghampton, NY – Team TIBCO/To the Top finished out the 2010 season with a show of force, as Samantha Schneider won a two-up sprint over Cath Cheatley (Colavita-Baci) to earn the win at the Chris Thater Memorial, her first career NRC victory. Joanne Kiesanowski won the bunch sprint for 3rd after Team TIBCO took over the front of the race on the final lap. Brooke Miller finished 5th.

Santa Cruz, CA - The annual road series here in NorCal, the CalCup is taking place for 3 weeks in late August/early Sept. This 7 race series is usually the final races of the season for a lot of riders, and while you won't get rich winning it, the bragging rights and coveted Velo Promo t-shirts always draw out good fields! Roman KilunSan Jose, CA – Roman Kilun of the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis has returned strong from a hip fracture sustained at the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic in June, winning a pair of California state track titles this weekend.
“I’ve been back racing on and off the past month,” he said, “but only started to feel good the past week.”

Santa Cruz, CA – Devon Haskell and Megan Guarnier of Team TIBCO/To the Top took 2nd and 3rd respectively today in the University Road Race in Santa Cruz. The 13-lap race on a challenging three-mile course that sent the field uphill for 1.5 miles and back down for the other 1.5 miles, served to help create the winning move.

While it is mostly just criteriums left in the US in August, the road season is still in full swing across the pond. Erinne and Joelle are based in Belgium for a month of racing with the Canadian National Team. Dave, our Webcor mechanic, is there with the Canadian team as well.
